You may have noticed some paving work being done on the northbound exit ramp at Fields-Ertel and Mason-Montgomery Road. Following the completion of this paving work, the construction on that ramp will be finished for the winter.
Traffic exiting the northbound ramp will remain in the current “configuration,” or pattern of traffic, until work resumes in the spring. At that time, work will continue to expand the gore and exit lane at the northbound I-71 exit. The gore is the marked triangular area of separation between the freeway and exiting traffic. Expanding the gore and exit lane will allow cars to exit I-71 and move onto the expanded off-ramp sooner; this will also create more separation between freeway and exiting traffic.
